Brenda Corbett

Biography:

A native of Canada, Brenda Corbett is defining leadership development here in the United States. Along with Judith Colemon, she wrote “The Sherpa Guide: Process-Driven Executive Coaching”, a book that’s provided clear methodology and standards for a rapidly growing industry. 

 "The Sherpa Guide" is used as a text by executive education programs at the University of Georgia, Miami University and Texas Christian. The Sherpa certification is the only one endorsed by multiple universities.

Corbett has trained and certified executive coaches for 3M, Federal Express, Liz Claiborne, Toyota and US Bank, among others.

Brenda travels to coach at the CEO level in Fortune 100 companies, applying her Sherpa process for executive coaching.

Corbett also delivers innovative team coaching. In 2005, a health care client documented $1 million in direct savings following a 6-month team coaching engagement. Clients' awards include “Best Place to Work" and “Small Business of the Year”. 

Brenda Corbett took on employee retention in the early days of welfare to work. She developed the ‘Missing Link’, soft skills training for front line supervisors, and 'Fresh Air', promoting front line work ethic. 

Her degree comes from Waterloo, one of Canada's top universities.

Biography:

Judith Colemon is an author and educator who trains and certifies executive coaches. Along with Brenda Corbett, Colemon penned "The Sherpa Guide: Process-Driven Executive Coaching”, the world’s most widely used textbook for coach training.

Ms. Colemon’s coaching is based on her experience as CEO for both a startup and an established institution. With her passion for leadership, she began coaching executives one-on-one in 2001.  She’s still coaching, and she's a leading authority in the field. Colemon has trained coaches for Toyota, Liberty Mutual, Hershey and the National Cancer Institute. 

Colemon continues certifying executive coaches at the University of Georgia, Miami University and Texas Christian. “The Sherpa Guide", is used by executive education programs at all three locations.  Sherpa Coaching is the only process endorsed by multiple universities. 

Her firm, Sherpa Coaching, is a minority business enterprise, women-owned, based in Cincinnati. Sherpa Coaching is the credentialing body that certifies executive coaches after their executive education experience.

Rubi Ho

Biography:

Rubi Ho is Vice President of Sherpa Coaching in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Born in Vietnam, he and his family escaped from Saigon in 1975, the day before it fell. They settled in Denver. Rubi Ho holds both a Master of Arts in Curriculum Development from the University of Colorado and a Master of Science in Management from Mt. Nazarene University. 

Before joining our staff, Rubi became a Certified Sherpa Coach through Penn State. At Sherpa Coaching, Rubi works as an executive coach support specialist, and teaches the Executive Coaching Certifications on campus.. Additionally, he develops content for University of Georgia, Miami University and Texas Christian, and private clients US Bank and Toyota.

Mr. Ho is an expert in the design and development of corporate training. In a nine-year tenure with Procter & Gamble, he served as North American Corporate Trainer, Manager for Global Product Initiatives, and a Steering team member for inclusion and leadership development of Asian minorities.

Rubi Ho is fluent in Spanish, and has a working command of the Vietnamese language.

Karl Corbett

Biography:

Karl Corbett is Managing Partner of Sherpa Coaching in Cincinnati.

He handles strategy, marketing and client relations for the Sherpa Executive Coaching Certifications at Penn State, Texas Christian University and the University of Georgia. He was contributing editor for “The Sherpa Guide: Process-Driven Executive Coaching”, published by Thomson in 2005.

Karl Corbett leads the annual Sherpa Executive Coaching Survey, the largest and longest-running survey on executive coaching. 

He has also been President of Sasha Corporation since he founded the firm in 1984, developing the Employment Dynamics process for HR systems design, and “Showtime” customer service training, gaining press all the way to Newsweek Japan.  He’s consulted and taught across the US and in South Africa, at the highest levels of industry and government. 

Mr. Corbett holds a degree in Management Information Sciences from the University of Kentucky, earned in 1974.

Ernie Waits

 

Ernie Waits

Biography:

Ernie Waits is the Director of Client Relations for Sherpa Coaching. He grew up in Cincinnati, and has known several key figures on the Sherpa team since the 1970’s.  Ernie formally joined the Sherpa team in 2009.

Ernie is a highly qualified, goal-oriented professional with broad experience in management, operations, and sales.  He handles strategic marketing and client relations for the Sherpa Coaching team.

Ernie’s background involves staffing, training, human resources and diversity. When he finished at Ohio University, he joined the family firm of Ernest J. Waits & Associates, consultants in HR development, as Vice President of Operations. Ernie directed field operations for a state wide project with the Federal Highway Administration and the Ohio Department of Transportation. He enabled the inclusion of African Americans into the trade unions for the heavy and highway construction industry, including non-traditional jobs for women.

Waits directed professional search, recruitment and placement of degreed and specific skilled minority personnel to major firms including Procter & Gamble, General Electric, Ford, Monsanto and many others.

He has also worked in the film & video industries, and as a touring and performing musician.  Ernie and his wife Helen have two children, Rebecca Elizabeth and Jennie Ann Waits.

Patricia Gardner

 

Patricia Gardner

Biography:

Patricia is a leader in the field of executive education, and an important part of the Sherpa team. She promotes executive training which strengthens client organizations by building effective executive education experiences.

Prior to coming to Sherpa Coaching, she was Director of Executive Programs at Penn State University Smeal College of Business. She has also worked extensively with the Executive MBA program at Temple University and given
seminars at Wharton.

As President of her own firm, Maximum Sales, Inc in Philadelphia, Pat Gardner provided direction to CEO's and top business leaders in
organizational development and training. Pat has worked through performance appraisals for C-level management and action plans for improvement in their divisions and departments.

She has lived and worked internationally, including a position as Vice President of Global Accounts with Smartlogik, London, England and lived in Uganda, Pakistan, Canada and Mexico.

In two decades of sales leadership at Xerox and as an independent consultant, Pat has closed multi-million dollar deals at Johnson and
Johnson, Verizon, AT&T, Adelphia, Glaxo SmithKline, Colgate, Vanguard, and
Unisys.

Jan Smith

 

Jan Smith

Jan Smith is the Customer Service Manager at Sherpa Coaching.  She has been with Sherpa Coaching since June 2007.

Jan is in charge of the Sherpa Team’s annual conference, managing the event start to finish. For customers of the online Sherpa Store, Jan’s a familiar name. She verifies and ships every store order personally.  For students in Sherpa classes and workshops, Jan is an important figure behind the scenes, making sure workbooks and materials are on specification and on time.

Her formal education and interest in travel led to her experience as a travel agent for seven years.  That makes Jan the obvious choice to make sure that Sherpa’s authors and educators have smooth travel to university campus and to client sites.

Jan enjoys tennis (a lot) and crafts.  She lives in Cincinnati with her husband Joe, a retail store manager, and her kids Byron and Morgan.

Lisa Earnest

 

Lisa Earnest

Lisa Earnest has been with Sherpa Coaching since 2008. In 2009, Lisa was promoted to her position as Operations Manager.

She has a wide ranging background, starting with her degree from Xavier University in Chemistry and Science, and a career as a teacher. Most of the administrative work she does for Sherpa comes naturally, given a prior position as an office manager.

Lisa takes care of accounting, research and database management at Sherpa HQ. She was also editor for the 2009 book: “BE . . . don’t do”, authored by the Sherpa team.

Lisa and her husband Scott live in Cincinnati, where she grew up. Scott is a mechanical engineer at National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. They have three lovely children, Julia, David and Steven. Lisa’s hobbies include harp and hand bells.

Arun Kattel

 

Arun Kattel

Biography:

Arun Kattel is the Vice President for Cultural Research at Sherpa Coaching. He works on a project basis from his offices in Kathmandu, Nepal, and visits the USA to share his research and knowledge of the Sherpa people and the Everest experience.

With his Masters degree in sociology and his connections throughout Nepal, Arun has been a brilliant and creative research partner to the Sherpa Team. He's also a lecturer at Blue Bird College, Lalitpur, Nepal, and  the Director and Chief of Operations, INCON, Nepal.

He has a strong track record,  with international consulting experience in matters of government ethics and business development. Most recently, he's  traveled and lectured in the USA, United Kingdom and Israel.
